999 CAST MEETING (TNDG DAY 2)

[keybroad]

[Lotus wakes up in the sci-fi set along with some of the others. She goes off on her own to get dressed in a Star Trek teal jumpsuit. She comes back with two cinnamon rolls. She sits on her bed and claps her hands. The bracelets on her arms jangle and should get a decent amount of attention.]

So. We should all talk as a group, I guess.

[She proceeds to begin eating the cinnamon rolls. Both are apparently for herself.]

We met in a class and became close friends. Say, knitting, or piano. Or swimming. [This one is a joke. No one here wants to have met in swimming class.] If anyone discovers one of us doesn't know how to do whatever the "class" was for, well, that's clearly why they were in the class.

[keybroad]

[Lotus is very amused!]

I like it. It has to be something cheap, though, that broke college students can afford.

What about those of us who've already admitted they couldn't afford shitty things like a class?

A club, then. That wouldn't need to be paid for.

A club works great for me too. It could be at a community center in Tokyo. Most of us live near there, right? So a public place where people of all ages could gather.

You'd have to say I didn't show up sometimes, but that ain't hard.

[keybroad]

I somehow don't have trouble imagining this.

What should it be a club for, then? We still need to decide that.

[keybroad]

Well, there are a couple different things it could be. Charity probably doesn't make sense if we're not rich ourselves. Not something with a heavy subject that would make people ask more questions.

Art? Exercise? Any of those sound good?

[snakenoeyes]

Visual arts should be avoided. They'd be rather difficult for me, you see.

[keybroad]

I do see. That's a good one.

We could do, like, tai chi? Something that stretches your own body in one place, so it wouldn't be as hard for you as a competitive sport like baseball.

[bookmarking]

[Clover spreads her feet and stretches her arms out as though she's ready to take flight.]

Tai chi works...?

We could also always say we're volunteers for something. Or if whatever we choose doesn't fit for everybody, then old neighbors or friends?

[It's not even a lie for like literally half of them]

Old friends isn't so good. We don't know everything about each other.

[exequte]

I didn't say that everyone had to be, but Jumpy and I are old friends, and everyone knows that Santa is my brother. He and I know Snake, who is Clover's brother. It can explain a number of the relationships if what we decide on doesn't fit one person for some reason, even if it fits most of us.

[keybroad]

I mean... you're not wrong, but when you put it that way... don't you see that Seven and I are in a pretty awkward position? He and I don't know the rest of you or each other that well at any time in the past and we never have.

[exequte]

True, but that's why I said it didn't have to be everyone. If most of us were part of a club that the others wouldn't necessarily fit into, there's reasonable ties to the group through one of the other members for most of us. That frees up the options a little.

[unexpectedboner]

If you're worried, just say we're neighbors. It makes sense to know the other people in your neighborhood...and their parents, for that matter. Then Lotus and Seven don't have to seem like creepers.

[keybroad]

[still doubtful but you know what. Life will go on.]

I guess trying to make Seven not seem like a creeper is already a lost cause.

Right! He's a bodyguard, and you're a mafia don! ...Donna? Whatever.

[keybroad]

[Warming to it a little]

I hacked into the database of his restaurant business and saw that he was laundering money, but I don't want to turn them in... I want my slice of the pie.

[unexpectedboner]

Right! Though you kinda sound like a villain, now. Maybe you want to use the money to help kids or give to charity or something, a real Robin Hood story.

[keybroad]

Well, yeah, I was just joking around. Of course our cover story shouldn't involve any of us breaking the law. I mean, that's kind of the whole reason we have to omit swathes of the whole truth in the first place.

[unexpectedboner]

Though it's not like all of us broke the law to begin with...

[shrugs]

Either way, I think we should just keep things vague. Harder to notice the holes in a story if it's already like Swiss cheese.
