What if-- Why not just talk to people, float the idea in conversation first? Then it doesn't have to seem so much like some evil organization or the mob or something.

Because people are touchy and when they have a face in front of them, they'll get even angrier than how they'd react to this.

So it's okay that they get angry at me when it's out of my hands, but not at you, to your face, when you can do damage control.

How will this trace back to you, specifically?

The whole point of your letter is that someone or someones with enough votes to not only take care of themselves but other random people is gonna decide to stop being nice and start being a jerk. Who're the people who've had extra votes since day one? Who're the people who've been freely giving those away? Sure, anyone could've written that letter. But when someone reads it, I know who I'd immediately blame for it.
