[Raises hand indecisively.] We hang out sometimes. I voted for him last round, he's supposed to be voting for me now. He plays the games pretty cooperatively without using it as an excuse to beat people up.

I'd vouche for his reliability. He's a real dirty punk, but a good kid, you know? At least, that's the impression I get. Anyway I gave him a pack of cigarettes to keep him from withdrawal so I'd think that's a good enough favour to feel I can trust him.

If you think both of us can trust him, then maybe in the future we can both approach him and talk about us both voting for him in the context of a hotelling occurring at the same time as a death.

At the least, I think he's reasonable enough to not freak out at the idea, even if he wasn't for it.

If he's reliable, we should try to keep him in the game, and away from the hotel, right...?

We're going to end up with enough people who are willing to let everyone die if the good people are who we send to the hotel.

I mean, I guess I think of it more "some good people go to the hotel while nebulously defined bad people die". It depends on how you define "good"... I mean, even if every round is only one vote short and also has one hotelling - which is far from certain since we're two short today - that's about eleven people who are going to die. [Intent, curious] Do you think there are eleven bad people here?

... I'm not trying to say anything morally, necessarily... just "good" as in "plays by the rules." Frank Reynolds didn't play by the rules. Mary-chan didn't play by the rules. --I know she's a child, but this is a very desperate situation...

We're all playing by the rules. If the number of people gets down so low that everything just degrades into anarchy and the only winner is who can get the most votes by calling in the most favors they collected, it's going to become very unpleasant.

I think of that as like... Mary in the hotel is a good outcome. Cutting her life short like a flowerbud would be sad.So I guess I agree that people still in the game should "play by the rules". The deviations from the rules should always result, long term, either in going to the hotel or in nobody voting for them. And we can assess that like, is this a child who had trouble deciding the best drastic yet nonlethal action, or is this an adult who had all day to talk with people and decide.

Then if there are few remaining people who deviate from the rules, we will eventually have only "rule-abiding" people in the hotel. So how early a "rule-abiding" person should go to the hotel, it's a question about what kind of "resource pool" we have. [At least she put quotes around it.]
