Through the doorways, from the room where these people all sleep, there is a faint smoke from the candle at the shrine for Seven, a counter with a portrait, water, and fruit.

Lotus lifts her eyebrows once everyone is there.]

Well, you've already done that much. That's all you've gotta do. Not everyone was gonna get a vote, anyway. So it doesn't really change anything whether you tell anyone else or not...

She wouldn't beat you up or anything, would she? I feel like getting on the bad side of somebody with robot strength sounds like a bad idea.

If she did, she'd look fucking bad. I get the feeling it'd be more manipulation on her part.

It won't matter if she is or not if it can't be traced to you. If she's insistent that she cannot do anything without you then it's more likely that she is trying to set you up. If that's the case then you have to approach it a different way. I'd suggest trying to think of a favor to ask in exchange for your help, to start off, so you're being paid for this.

Afterwards, you could easily post an anonymous notice somewhere stating that Ene has volunteered to not be voted for, or use it to spread a rumor about something unpopular, like saying that she had told someone - whoever wrote the sign - that she was planning to send someone to the hotel even if someone else died for it. It's hard to fight a rumor. It could even be a list of several different rumors, so that it's not obvious she specifically is being targeted.

But what other rumours are you thinking of? We can't get too ballsy with them. We'd even have to make one or two of them true... otherwise it looks like bullshit.

Yes, I know - but the same time, it can't just be the love lives of people here, if there's going to be serious accusations leveled against her.

What if we say that the man who's at the bar got killed because he found out something about one of the future rounds? Or something about the stabbing round that's coming up, maybe that they might be planning to give out razor blades instead of knives? Something. Maybe it could be someone had seen the path that one of the people who's tried escaping tried to go down, and just after they disappeared from sight they started screaming, and screamed until it stopped very suddenly.

Too much detail can be as bad as not enough.

[ Okay, but joking aside. ] Are we circulating these rumors by mouth or anonymously in some way? The latter looks better and offers us a gateway if we want to use anon for other things later on.

I- I'm not really sure that's a compliment, Santa! And really, I'm only thinking out loud....

Something like an anonymous poster hung up in one of the common areas would be best, I think. In a group this small it would be too easy to trace back to who started them otherwise. You'd probably want to be more sure you had a handle on the situation before you did, though, and it would be best if there were a few rumors that could be proved to be true. It's good if things sound plausible, but having something that's provable adds validity to everything.

We'll have to think of suitably spicy details about people we know that won't ruin them to hear spread.

What about something about us? Saying that we had been brought here from another game where we had put our lives on the line?

There's people who know that already, unless you're banking on them being blamed for the rumours mill.

That's what makes it perfect, though. Not only do multiple people know it, but it's kind of scandalous information that can be confirmed from multiple sources. It means that who started these will be harder to trace, and it's something that multiple people will know and can confirm is true.
